Latest Announcements...

Here are the latest announcements from the Canon City Noon Lions Club. Thanks to Lion Lorraine for providing them!

Thanks to everyone for a great Halloween Party! It was held on the 31st and hosted by Lions Debbie and Charlie Bell.

A Zone Christmas Party to help kids in Foster care will be held at the Abbey on Tuesday, December 1, 2009. The meal schedule, prices, and contact information are as follows:

  • 6 p.m. bar
  • 6:30 dinner: Meal Choices are Chicken Cordon Bleu or Beef Burgundy with all the trimmings.
  • Price: $25 for a single or $45 a couple.
  • Reservations need to be in by Nov. 20th
  • Please contact Zone Chairman Joe Schryver at 719-275-1539 or
  • PDG John Freyta at 719-214-1593.
  • Also, there should be a sign up sheet circulated at our Tuesday meeting. Auction items are needed as the proceeds go to help us with this party and these children and foster parents.
  • Please help as it would be greatly appreciated!

Moving on, a chair person is needed for the Pancake Breakfast to be held on Saturday, Dec. 5 at the Golden Age Center. This is a FREE breakfast to thank the community for their past and future support. Please step forward and volunteer for this great project. Call Lion Al Petersen

A Few Tidbits

Lion Lorraine was not able to attend the meeting, but here are a few tidbits she was able to pass along:
Lion Debbie presided over the meeting as Lion Steve was not able to attend.

Patricia Freda and Ken Gordon were inducted. Welcome!!

The Halloween party will be held at Lions Charlie and Debbie Bell's home on the 31st. Costumes are encouraged but not necessary if members prefer not to wear them. This will be a potluck, so all are encouraged to attend and have a fun evening.

Happy Fall!

The Canon City Noon Lions Club Blog is back on track! We hope everyone had a great summer. Here are a few announcements to get everyone caught up.

We happily welcome three new members that have been inducted since July:

  • Ken Gordon

The Knights of the Blind Golf Tournament was a BIG success. Kudos to Lions Joe Rall, PDG Ron Smith, Art Welch and the entire committee. Wonderful job! Plaques, dangles and Thank Yous in the newspaper will be coming soon.

We'll be having a FREE Pancake Breakfast on Dec. 5 for the community to show our appreciation for their support and are in need of a Lion to step forward and volunteer to Chair this committee.

Get ready for a haunting good time! The Lions Club Halloween Party will be held on October 31. Mark your calendars. More details to follow.

Please give used eyeglasses to Lion Lorraine. She and Lion Bob have collected, sorted and turned in 433 pairs since July 1. Keep them coming.

First, I apologize for my absence! The last month of my semester at school got pretty busy. Life has finally slowed and I can refocus on the task at hand. I hope everyone is ready for a great summer!

Missed Post from March 24, 2009

We inducted 3 new members and wish to welcome them:

  • Doug Shane sponsored by Lion Steve Lawson

  • Tonya Hubbard sponsored by Heather Zimmerman.
  • We had a fourth person, but he has been ill for about five days and was unable to attend. Will hopefully get him inducted next week.

All of those who worked and attended the District Convention were recognized and thanked for all their help. Disappointed that more did not attend. Great convention!

Still need a secretary for 2009-2010. If anyone is willing and able to give of their time, please contact Lion Steve Lawson immediately.

Special Kidsight Seminar

Make plans now to attend a special KidSight seminar at one of several upcoming conventions! The focus of the seminar will be the SureSight vision screener, and it will be facilitated by a representative from Welch Allyn. The session is designed as an "advanced training" for people who are already familiar with the SureSight vision screener. Don't miss out on this great opportunity to get your questions and concerns about the SureSight addressed! It will be held at these upcoming conventions:

  • Saturday, April 4th - District 6NE Convention in Fort Collins 2:45 - 3:30 p.m. in the Cheyenne Room Saturday
  • May 2nd - District 6C Convention in Denver1:30 or 2 p.m. - Exact Time & Room TBD Friday
  • May 15th - STATE Convention in Colorado SpringsTime & Room TBD The seminars are open to all convention attendees.
